As male hair trends go, long hair has always been a bit hit and miss. It used to be reserved for boho types; worn in dreads or left unwashed for days in order to portray a ‘free’ festival going lifestyle. Not forgetting the Warhammer playing behemoth who believes he lives in a fantasy world of long haired and bearded warlords… well, you get the picture.

Long For Life, Get It Right

When you start getting a bit of length, don’t be tempted to get a square line cut at the bottom (anywhere between the earlobe or jawline), unless you are lucky enough to have chiseled features and don’t possess jowls of a gerbil.
Have your hairdresser soften the edge of the length and wear the front and side pushed gently away from the face in a side or middle parting.
This long hair trend is just that, long hair, so stay away from elaborate layers and chopped up texture. Keep it simple, go for length and definitely no fringes.
Try and keep a balance between the front, sides and back, so there are no extreme differences in length. We are not aiming for a mullet.
Although you will need some kind of finishing product, don’t overload the hair. Use just enough for control and to softly define the natural texture.

On the catwalks and in editorials, there have been many examples of more flamboyant shapes less keen to be restricted by established rules, conforming to nothing but their own drape. Last year, slim lines and sharp cuts ruled the runways and headed the front pages of many fashion magazines, but in a 4G world, the ballooning shapes seen in Paris, Milan and London reflect the theatrical nature of couture that previously emerged more than sixty years ago.

You may have already been aware of the oversized trend, as it appeared on the women’s catwalk not long ago, but it has been dismissed by many due to ridiculous measures being taken by some women walking around in their actual pyjama trousers. With this in mind, this is an opportunity to score one up on the girls, boys!

As the impressive and unprecedentedly successful 2012 Olympics ties its last ribbon, a battle for gold took place behind the scenes. Stella McCartney, Ralph Lauren and Giorgio Armani showcased their creations on a new type of catwalk. Just like the best professionals in sport, fashion too is always preparing ahead of time with a goal in mind, but never before has sportswear been dissolved and revived in such a fusion of performance and style.
Traditionally, and somewhat understandably, sportswear is associated with leisure and a casual approach to dressing. However, this Olympics and last summer’s SS12 catwalks have made a conscious effort to reverse this preconceived and archaic assumption. In fact, Dirk Bikkemberg even presented his couture collection based wholly on sport outfits whilst other designers, such as Christopher Shannon and Calvin Klein, interlaced their collections with their own interpretations of luxury sportswear.

We are in 21st century. The century of Fashion and design.

In the '00s, fashion, and indeed the Arts in general, looked to the past for inspiration, 

arguably more so than in previous decades. Vintage clothing, especially from the Sixties, Seventies, and Eighties became extremely popular and fashion designers often sought to emulate bygone styles in their collections.

The early '00s saw a continuation of the minimalist look of the Nineties in high fashion. 

Later on, designers began to adopt a more colorful, feminine, excessive, and 'anti-modern' look.

 Name brands became of particular importance among young people and many celebrities launched their own lines of clothing. Tighter fit clothing and longer hair became mainstream for many men and women. Rap music also had a considerable influence on popular fashion, in the early part of the 2000s.
